Intromewcing… Self care Sundays!

The first of our monthly Nameowste Yin Yoga classes takes place at Catfe on October 27. Purrfect for a Sunday evening to ease you into the week ahead, yin yoga consists of slow, meditative poses that are held for longer periods of time. This soothing style of yoga will improve your flexibility and melt away tension. Beginners are welcome—if you’re new to yoga, this is a perfect, calming and easy-going introduction to the practice. (Plus: CATS!)

Yin yoga poses apply moderate stress to the connective tissues, helping to increase circulation in the joints and improve flexibility: pressure significant enough to promote change, but mild enough so the body can relax. Alignment is found through one’s own experience of feeling into the target area, and choosing an edge that feels appropriate for you. The Catfe cats will be on hand to demonstrate their own interpretations of the poses.

Please bring: your own yoga mat, and your love of cats.

Emmanuelle Rousseau came to yoga over 20 years ago on a hunch that it might help her anxiety and improve her ability to focus and relax. She found amazing tools to enhance her well-being, and continues to push her edge as a way not only to gain strength, but to find balance as well. Emmanuelle is a fierce advocate and supporter of yoga research, and bringing yoga and mindfulness to schools, hospitals and prisons. She loves to collaborate with local artists and musicians, combining the talents of some of Vancouver’s finest artists with yoga. She shares her passion for yoga and mindfulness with her partner Boyd, and the two of them opened STRETCH in Chinatown in 2014. Together with countless collaborators, Emmanuelle and Boyd work at bringing modern and secular yoga to everyone.
